Trey Knecht has accepted an offer to play football for Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders in the Mid-South Conference next year.    Trey looks forward to getting plenty of early opportunity as Lindsey Wilson College returns to the gridiron for the first time since 1935.   Trey Joins several mid-west/southern recruits heading for the Lake Cumberland area to play for the Blue Raiders next year.     The full recruiting class is avaialble on Lindsey Wilson’s Football Web-site and the Blue Raiders Schedule is available on-line (Note: the November 6th match-up vs. Georgetown College where Trey will be facing off against former  King’s Teammate Derrick Harris).

Trey was joined at his signing by his family, coach Olds, the Senior Band of Brothers and underclassmen Jamire Westbrook and Justin Crull.

Kings Knight Alumni Collin McCafferty who made his second BCS Bowl apperance this year was one of twelve UC Bearcats honored as All Big East All Academic.     Learn more about Collin’s academic accomplishments at UC Bearcats Football website

For the first times in Kings Football History, the Knights will have 2 alumni playing for teams making BCS Bowl apperances.    Knights fans can enjoy the two games back to back on New Years Day.

Conner Warye’s 2009 football season at Wittenberg ended with the Tigers posting a 12-1 record losing only in the third round of the D-3 National Playoffs to eventual National Champion Wisconsin -Whitewater 31-13. Conner finished his season fourth on his team with 761 All-Purpose yards including 608 rushing, six touchdowns, and 5.4 yards per carry . Next year the Knights will add another Kings Alumni to the Tigers’ roster as Kings’ QB of the 2005-07 seasons Bruce Ernest, has tranferred from Miami to Wittenberg and has immediately begun winter workouts with his new team. Wouldn’t it be fun to see Bruce and Conner back together again in Wittenberg’s back field in 2010? Stay tuned!

Jesse Imes was a two-sport standout at Kings, earning all-conference honors in football and baseball. As a senior, he was named second-team all-Ohio in football and went on to continue his football career at the University of Buffalo and earned all-Mid-American Conference academic honors.

Collin McCafferty – Kings ’06 – University of Cincinnati – A key player on Bearcat Special teams in 08, Collin is looking for additional playing time this year at Linebacker.   Collin loved last years trip to the Orange Bowl and looks forward to more great memories as a Bearcat.  See Collin’s Bio on GoBearcat.com.

Sean Keller – Kings 06 – Ball State Universtiy – A second year walk on for the Cardinals Sean is looking forward to the 2009 Season with the Cards and an opportunity to see more playing time at Wide Receiver.    Last year Ball State went undefeated in the MAC Conference and enjoyed a Bowl bid in the GMAC Bowl against Tulsa.   Sean, a former 3 time lettermen, was all conference and all city his senior year, helping lead the Knights to their 3rd straight conference title as a team captain.     See Sean’s profile at ballstatesports.com.

Eric Dern – Kings ’07 – Ohio Dominican Universtiy – Former FAVC Player of the Year Eric Dern is starting LB for ODU Panthers, currently nationally ranked NAIA school (#20).    Check out Eric’s bio page on Ohio Dominican’s web-site  and listen to Ohio Dominican games at pressboxproductions.net.

Chris Maxwell – Kings ’07 – Ohio State University – Chris has earned the privelidge  to wear #29 for the Buckeyes this season as a defensive back.     His spring game interception made all Knights fans proud coming into this season!  See Chris’s bio on OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Connor Wayre – Kings ’08 – Whittenberg University - Connor transfers to his parents alma mater this season after scoring his first college touchdown for Ohio Northern as a freshmen last year.      Find Connor on the Whittenberg Roster.

Zac Murphy – Kings ’09 – After tieing the state record for field goals in a season, Zac takes his kicking game to Miami University.    See Zac’s Bio on MURedHawks.com.

Nick Bauer – Kings ’09 – Nick takes his running game to Morehead State this year after leading the Knights with over 1300 yards rushing.   See Nick’s bio page on Morehead States web-site.

Derrick Harris – Kings ’09 - After finishing his High School career as FAVC Specialist of the Year, Derrick is enjoying the start to his college Career at Georgetown College meeting the Greatest, Muhammed Ali in camp last week.    See Derrick on the Georgetown roster.

Michael Kidder – Kings ’09 – FAVC Defensive Player of the Year, Michael Kidder looks forward to the season opener at Mt. St. Joe on Saturday September 5th at Wilmington College.     Keep up with Michael’s schedule this season at MSJ’s web-site.

Conner Wayre - Wittenberg

 

After three weeks into the Wittenberg season Sophomore Connor Wayre has already established his role as the backup tailback on a 3-0 Tiger team.  Currently Conner stands fifth on the team in all-purpose yards, third in rushing yds and leads the team with a 6.1yds per carry average. Two weeks ago in St. Louis against Washington University he scored his first Tiger Touchdown on a 39 yard screen pass.  After earning Ohio Northern’s Clyde Lamb Award as Outstanding Offensive Freshman in 2008, Conner has enjoyed his transition to Wittenberg and spending time with X-Kings Knight Footballer and Wittenberg student Phil Hagee. Although Conner now wears # 38 he hopes (Coach’s willing) to transition to his familiar # 22 currently occupied by a 2009 senior team member. Wittenberg located only an hour’s drive away, Con welcomes any Kings Knights coaches, players or fans to a future Tiger Home Game.
