Collin McCafferty

When the Kings Knights head out for the coin toss Friday night they will be joined by Honorary Captain and Kings Football Alumni Collin McCafferty.    Collin is the Special Teams Captain of the Cincinnati Bearcats this year, a 3time All Academic Big East Football Player, and participant in 2 BCS Bowl games (2009 Sugar Bowl, 2008 Orange Bowl).  Collin  was the 2005 FAVC Player of the Year and earned First Team All-State honors.     Collin helped lead the Knights to Division Championships and State Playoff appearances in 2003, 2004, and 2005.     One of his best individual performances came during the 2005 season where he rushed for 221 yards on 21 carries and 5 touchdowns in the Knights win over Ross 48-3.

Collin is an outstanding player on the field, and student in the classroom.   But more importantly, he is the type of quality individual that is the hallmark of Great Kings Athletes!

Trey Knect - Lindsey Wilson Fumble Recovery

 

Trey Knecht almost scored a TD on a blocked punt that he recovered Saturday.  Trey has 10 tackles on the year, 1 pass deflection, a safety, and one fumble recovery on a punt block. Lindsey Wilson is a first year program that has shown a lot of toughness in their inaugural season. They stand at 1-3 on the season. The Blue Raiders lost a hard fought game this past weekend to Campbellsville 48-30.

Trey Knect - Lindsey Wilson Safety

Trey Knecht will go down in the record books for Lindsey Wilson Football. The true freshman has been a huge force for the Blue Raiders. This is the first football season in over 75 years. Trey recorded the first safety of the new season this past Saturday in a 44-3 victory. On the year, Trey has 6 tackles for loss. Head Coach Chris Oliver is very pleased with Trey. He feels Trey is only scratching the surface of his potential and will be an has been a great addition to this young team. Lindsey Wilson is 1-1 on the season. They lost their first game to Notre Dame Ohio 14-10. Football: The Ohio State football coaching staff has selected its weekly award winners for outstanding play in Saturday’s 36-24 victory over No. 12 Miami.

Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa, with two interceptions and six tackles, is the defensive player of the week. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who rushed for 113 yards and a score and passed for 233 yards and a touchdown, is the offensive player of the week. Devin Barclay, who tied the Ohio State record with five field goals, is the player of the week on the special units.

Justin Boren was named as the Jim Parker lineman of the week. Dexter Larimore received the Attack Force award on defense.   The Jack Tatum big hit of the week was not awarded.

Players of the week on the scout teams: James Louis (offense); Donnie Evege (defense); Chris Maxwell (special units).

Conner Wayre and Bruce Ernst are back on the football field together, but this time at Wittenberg.     Bruce (#15) transferred to Wittenberg this year as a QB, but saw action Saturday as a safety, Conner (#22) contributed over 100 All Purpose yards in the 48-6 win in the season opener.   Keep up with the our Alumni in Action at Wittenberg’s football website.

ZAc Murphy at the Swamp
Zac Murphy made his college debut on ESPN Saturday as the Miami Redhawks took on the Florida Gators.     Zach made a call Friday night to WKNG Radio at  halftime of the Kings vs. Milford game, fast forward through  to the 1 hour 59 minute mark of the Game Podcast to hear Zach talk about the Gator game and check out Barret Cohen’s interview in Alumni in Action.   Great job in the Swamp Zac!   Knights Nation is still behind you!!

Game Recap: Murphy’s first punt comes at the 10:59 mark of the 3rd quarter.  A booming 38 yard punt!   He had another in the 4th quarter for 43 yards.  Also active for the Redhawks are FAVC and Turpin alumni Luke Kelly and Andy Cruse.
