Kingsfootball.com had the opportunity to catch up with Chris Maxwell on Saturday night. Chris, a Senior at OSU, is one of six players from over 130 walk-ons to make arguably the top college football programs in the nation.

For college football players spring practice is where you work your way up in the depth charts, and Chris is competing in his final year with the Buckeyes. Chris is excited for his senior year and working hard to find a spot to compete for the team on Saturday’s potentially on special teams. This year spring practice is even more intense at Ohio States, as several holes open up from graduation and suspensions.

When asked about his scholarship situation, Chris said it’s still unclear. Coach Tressel has historically provided scholarships to his Senior Walk-ons to reward them for their commitment to the program. This season OSU has a much higher accept rate for scholarships from their incoming freshmen class, so that part of the picture is still unclear.

Coach Andy Olds, calls Chris Maxwell “a winner”. Chris had the opportunity and was well on his way to transferring to another college to pursue his passion to play college football, but as he considered his options and desire to acquire a degree from the Ohio State University, Chris stayed the course. Worked hard to earn a spot as a walk-on, and now every Saturday in the fall Chris is enjoying the fruits of his labor as an Ohio State Buckeye.

Next Saturday is Ohio State’s Spring Game, Chris will be looking to make another interception in the spring game, which would make him one of the few in OSU history to have an interception in the Spring Game for every season his was a member of the squad. Chris mentioned his teammates are already razzing him as they prepare for this Saturday.

Our Chris Maxwell, still has the heart of a Knight!   Chris has the 3rd interview in the segment below.

For more on Chris Maxwell, enjoy last season’s WKNG TV interview during halftime of the Loveland game with Barrett Cohen.
