Walnut Hills Becomes Kings Latest Casualty 35 – 14

It took less than 13 seconds for the Knights to get on the board against Walnut Hills when Tommy Schnee dove on a loose ball in the end zone.  Schnee was on the receiving end of a bad snap to Walnut Hills Dez Stewart and he bolted across the line and beat the Eagles to the ball for 6 points.

Schnee was questionable to even be in the game with a sprained MCL on his right leg.  But as we have seen all season long with the Knight players they are tougher than first meets the eye and trying to keep them out of the lineup is nearly impossible.  If they can stand upright they want to play.

Mason Barker is becoming a dominate force on kick off returns with his ability to break the wedge.  Wedge breakers as they are called a special breed of player who sacrifice their body to allow their teammates an easier lane to the ball carrier and Barker showed his willingness to throw caution to the wind more than once.

Kenneth Davis would answer the Knights score with a 71-yard run of his own for Walnut Hills at the 9:48 mark of the first quarter.  Fans figured they better buckle in as it appeared it could be a very high scoring game.

As we have seen all season the defensive coordinator makes the necessary adjustments and as quickly as their opponents running lanes seemed to be open they are quickly slammed shut.  This game would be no different as the front line did a great job of containing QB Dez Stewart and RB Kenneth Davis for the Eagles.  Anytime either one of them would get past the line the linebacking corps for the Knights would clean up.

As the Knight’s have seen in the past few weeks Justin Crull has found the end zone multiple times and this game was no different.  His first score came on a 70-yard put return where he made some sweet moves to find his way into the promised land.  His second score would come later in the game on a pass play from Jonny Brewster where he took the ball away from the defender and raced twenty something yards into the end zone.

The game was never in question as they would lead 21-7 at halftime and build a 28-7 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Knights looked great again on both sides of the ball and it seems like whomever Coach Olds brings off the bench they step into the lineup without missing a beat.

Ryan Anthony is an unsung hero in the center position but is clearly an anchor to the offensive line.  A good center isn’t thought of when they are in the game but are clearly missed when they aren’t and that applies to Anthony as well.

Jamire Westbrook found the end zone on a beautiful end around run, which has become a staple in the Knights offense week in and week out.

Max DeMumbrum has really come alive on defense the past two weeks.  Max along with Spencer Rosekrans and Justin Crull form a very solid secondary for the Knights.

The Knights next opponent is 1-6 on the year and on paper don’t look like they will be much of a challenge for the Knight’s but as we all know you can’t overlook anyone in high school.
