The Knights put up their best offensive show of the season against Winton Woods Friday night, scoring 19 first half points on 3 consective possessions. It was only the second time this season that Winton Woods had been punished by such an explosive offensive display. The first was when they crumbled against Moeller. The Knights had possession of the ball for over 19 minutes of the first half as they picked apart Winton Woods defense. The Kings Nation faithful in attendance provided a standing O as the Knights headed to the locker at half-time. Much more to this game than then final score. If you missed it, you missed a good one!
Game Recap:
On the first fall night of football, the rain was misting on the Warriors’ home field making for the first poor weather game of the season.
Winton Woods struck early on a 2 play 46 yard drive capped off by an 8 yard run to put the Warriors up 6-0 after the failed extra point.
Kings next possession ended in a -6 yard series and a quick 3 and out. On the punt attempt Zach Hilderbrand had his punt blocked and the Warriors recovered on the Knights 1 yard line. On the next play the Warriors punched it in to increase their lead to 13-0.
Kings responded by putting together a 10 play 80 yard drive led by Jonny Brewster who passed for 73 yards. A 26 yard TD pass to Jamire Westbrook followed by a blocked extra point made the score 13-6.
On the next possession Winton Woods ran the ball 55 yards for another touchdown pushing their lead to 20-6.
The Knights answered with a methodical 12 play drive mixing up the run and the pass to perfection. Kings then broke out their version of the wildcat formation with Westbrook taking the snap. He found TE Kyle Schumacher for a wide open 19 yard TD pass to close the gap to 20-12.
Winton Woods returned the favor and went 73 yards to push the lead to 27-12 in short order.
The Knights picked themselves off the mat and started their next drive on their own 13 yard line. After a 17 yard run by Westbrook, Brewster threw an 11 yard strike to Nick Bird as the Knights moved into Warrior territory. Brewster then connected with Blake Bates in the corner of the end zone to cut the lead to 27-19.
The Warriors took only 4 plays on the ground to finish off the first half with the last score to push their lead to 34-19.
Winton Woods began the 2nd half by marching down the field on an 8 play 81 yard drive making the score 41-19.
Kings mounted their last scoring drive of the game aided by a Winton Woods unsportsmanlike penalty and a pass interference penalty to put the Knights in business. The 10 play drive was capped off with Brewster finding Bates for their 2nd TD connection making the score 41-25.
Winton Woods added 3 more scores to making the final score the Warriors 60, the Knights 25.

Passing: Brewster 19-27 for 210 yards, 3 TD’s & 1 INT.
Receiving: Westbrook 6 receptions for 106 yards & Nick Bird 6 receptions for 48 yards.
