After a 9 month slumber the weather threatened the Knights return to the field of play.  Enduring a 30 minute delay the overflowing red sea of the Knights faithful was ready for the season to start.

Lebanon took the opening kickoff and marched 65 yards in 6 plays to take the early 7-0 lead against the Knights.  Kings responded on their first possession of the season led by sophomore running back Jamire Westbrook who ran for 39 yards on the drive which resulted in a 26 yard field goal by Evan Berg to cut the Lebanon lead to 4.

On the ensuing kickoff Lebanon took it 86 yards to the wigwam to move in front 14-3.  Kings failed to move the ball on their next possession and relinquished control to Lebanon who needed just 2 plays to score again and push the lead to 21-3.

On the following kickoff Kings returner Spencer Rosekrans was separated from the ball and Lebanon recovered on the Kings 25 yard line.  On the next play Zach Brashear returned the favor by intercepting an under thrown Warrior pass at the 2 yard line which brought an end to the first quarter.

The second quarter started with Kings backed up on their own 2 yard line.  The Knights were moving the football until Jonny Brewster was hit from behind and lost control which resulted in a fumble that was recovered by the Warriors.  A few plays later the Warriors get their 4th touchdown of the half on a 1 yard quarterback sneak to extend their lead to 28-3 with 5 minutes left in the first half.

Kings was stopped on their next attempt to move the ball and were forced to kick it away.  On the ensuing kick the Warrior return man muffed the punt and Tommy Schnee recovered on the Warrior’s 19 yard line.  Also on the play Lebanon was penalized for a personal foul which led to Kings starting at the 9 yard line.  On the first play of the drive Jamire Westbrook dashed 9 yards for the Knights touchdown and with the Berg conversion made the score 28-10 Lebanon.

Lebanon came right back with a 47 yard pass play to set up their final touchdown of the half on a 14 yard slant play to make the score 35-10 at halftime.

Kings received the opening kick off of the second half and began to move the ball but were thwarted in their efforts by a fumbled handoff leading to another Kings turnover.  The Knights defense stepped up led by senior captain Billy Bruns holding the Warriors out of the end zone and forcing a field goal to increase the Warriors lead to 38-10.

After another Knights punt the Warriors quickly drove 85 yards to put the game out of reach finishing the drive with a 26 yard touchdown pass to push the lead to 45-10.

Kings put up a late touchdown on a 2 yard run by Taylor Bockrath to make the final score 45-17.

The Knights will travel to Talawanda to square off with the Braves and try to even their record at 1-1.  The game starts at 7:30 pm and we need a huge Knight contingent to root them on to victory.
